This month celebrates the positive impact mentoring can have on young lives. Pathway has a team of several dedicated Direct Care Mentors (DCM’s) who mentor foster, adopted, and children from our community. Over the last year, more than 1,430 HOURS were dedicated to mentoring Pathway children and teens!

DCM’s may lend a listening ear, share their experiences and offer guidance, or simply provide a fun activity to act as encouragers and constant support systems for Pathway children and teens.

Pathway DCM, Laura Johnson received this sweet note from a mentee around Christmas time. Laura has been mentoring her since June and shared,

“It took a little bit of time for her to warm up to me. This young lady had an extremely tough upbringing being in and out of foster care from the age of 3.

Everyone around her had failed her- including an adoptive family, where she thought she would be loved but instead was hurt. She does her best to not let it all hold her down and actually wants to use her troubles from the past as ways to help other children in foster care. She is enrolled in a county program to give input on how to help other children in foster care thrive.

We bonded over this, as well as our love for talking. I love being someone in her life that she can count on.”

YOU help inspire growth and potential, and let each child know they matter.
